It’s been an intense summer so far, crazy hot on the east coast, hellachill on the west coast. I’ve gotten over a cold brought on by the twin infernos of Penn Station and three hours waiting for our damn jumbo jet to get off the ground in D.C.’s Dulles Airport, quite possibly the only airport in the world larger than the Pentagon.

Never-the-less, I find I still haven’t quite gotten over Harry Potter. Yeah, I know it’s over, and it’s time for other summer blockbusters to take over. But I still can’t let go of the fact that, dammit, Voldemort should have actually died in that scene, not turned into CGI confetti, and ditto for Bellatrix LeStrange. Well at least they had that weird thing under the bench at King’s Cross Station. And why did they even bother to have Harry and Ginny kiss, I mean it was pathetic, they didn’t even—

Okay, I get it. Moving on. As a final tribute to Potter, I’ve decided to dredge up a song I wrote way back in ’02, a funny filk based on Allan Sherman’s hilarious song from 1963, Hello Muddah Hello Faddah. You can find the link to my version of the lyrics at the top of this blog. If you want to hear Mr. Sherman’s original, check out this YouTube page.

And may the Farce be with you…
